National Science Centre, Pusat Sains Negara in Kuala Lumpur

A great outing for kids and adults alike is the National Science Centre in Bukit Kiara.
A magnificent glass domed building, with dinosaur shaped plants outside, a swimming pool area and lots of fun scientific tangibles inside. Not known to many but there is also a mini aquarium. Admission price for adults is 6rm as of April 2012. More information can be found here:

Malaysian Art, Batik

If you are looking for authentic pieces to decorate your home with and you are tired of the "IKEA" look , why not purchase some Malaysian Batik. Now I know for some of you the word "Batik" conjures up images from the 1970's and 1980's and is closely linked with images of "tie 'n' dye" t-shirts. But before you dismiss batiks altogether pop down and visit Aziz's workshop. He creates Batik's with a modern twist and is also an ambassador of this dying art form. If you are an artist yourself or just bored at home, Aziz will gladly give you lessons, so you can create your own colour co-ordinated masterpieces to go on the wall above your couch.
Aziz's workshop is located along the passage way between the LRT station of Dang Wangi and monorail station of Bukit Nanas. The workshop incidentally, also lies at the beginning of the inner city jungle trail that leads past the Menara KL tower.

Things to do: Elephant Sanctuary Near Kuala Lumpur

If you love elephants or you are simply bored at home, then you must visit the Elephant orphanage and sanctuary in Kuala Gandah. Depending on traffic it is a minimum 1 hour 45 minute drive outside of Kuala Lumpur. If you don't have a car and satellite navigation/map then join any of the tours that go out there. We drove up with friends and it was an excellent day out involving elephant rides, elephant feeding and swimming with the elephants!! Very suitable for children as well.
Please note that there is a limit of 150 people per day who can ride the elephants. So get there early before the tickets run out. Tickets are obtained in exchange for a donation.
To drive from Kuala Lumpur follow this route:
Batu Caves
Gombak-Kuantan Highway
East Coast Express way
Genting
Lanchang-Lebuhraya Pantai Timur
Karak Highway/Karak Village
Bolok
Kuala Gandah
