Kuala Lumpur now has great quality Leather shoes for babies and toddlers.
Good bye plastic and hello suede!
Goodbye squashed toes and welcome barefoot comfort!!
It has been a real chore finding some comfortable and great quality shoes for my little one. I have been reading a lot about how important the early years are for getting your child off to a right start by giving them the best footwear to support their toddling then walking and then running days!
Now I have finally found the perfect shoes. They are lovingly made in Africa with great quality leather and come in different, adorable designs and patterns.
For baby's they have soft leather shoes.
For toddlers there are leather shoes with rubber soles.
Have a look at some of their wonderful designs:
Prices start from RM120.

Best Activities for Toddlers and Babies in Kuala Lumpur
This is my first compilation of things I have discovered in KL to enjoy with your baby or toddler. Some of the recommendations I have joined myself but some I have not yet managed to get round too! Just wish to share this info with all the mums in KL who are looking for things to do with their young children.
One of our favourite activities is Baby Sensory/Toddler Sense. They are just brilliant and offer half hour free play and half hour structured themed classes every single day of the week. In addition the themes change every single week so your little one is always learning and experiencing something new.
They have just started a new class for kids aged 3 plus called Mini Professors, whereby the kids learn by doing different experiments.
For more info have a look here at their website:

Fun things to do with kids in Kuala Lumpur: Butterfly Park
All this time in KL and we never visited the Butterfly park until recently. Entrance fee at the moment is RM22 for Tourists and RM11 for residents of Malaysia. It is no where as nearly as big as the bird park but still worth a visit with children just to see the different species of butterflies and the few live samples they have of some of the best camouflaged insects on this planet.
Long-necked Turtle |
Can you spot the stick insect? |

Handling Stress and Loneliness when living abroad.
This ted x talk by Kelly McGonigal is absolutely fascinating because the science says that stress can actually be very good for us as long as we believe it is good for us. In addition it also proves the old saying that " a problem shared, is a problem halved!"
https://www.ted.com/Make stress your friend
So why am I sharing this message here. Well because being an expat in a foreign country can be very stressful and very lonely. For some their whole experience is marred by homesickness and seclusion not being able to integrate and make new friends. For others only the beginning of their stay is so until they find their groove and start to settle in after a major change. And for others the stress may come later, when the excitement of a big move starts to give way to some unexpected realities or boredom. In others still the stress comes when they actually move back home after several years away and find that they have changed so much that they no longer fit in to their old way of life and circle of friends.
You don't have to be an expat to experience stress or loneliness, this is not reserved solely for those moving around the world. That is why Kelly McGonigal's message is so important to help everyone stop the damages stress causes by changing our perspective on stress. Instead of " this is going to kill me", we need to realise that stress " is getting me ready to face anything that comes my way".
Changing beliefs and perspectives is something coaches are trained to do. So if you find yourself in a stressful or lonely situation and you need to halve your problem, reach out to a coach and let them help you face your challenges with support, encouragement and positivity.

Mother and Baby Expo at KLCC
For all mums and dads in KL, there will be a huge Mother and Baby fair this weekend at the KLCC Convention Centre. The expo runs from the 26th until the 28th of February 2016. As a new mum in KL I quickly discovered that a lot of people do their shopping for their babies and kids at expos and fairs. Why? Firstly, because of the discounted prices and secondly because some of the goods are not stocked in retail outlets. So if you are looking for something in particular that you haven't been able to find in any of the Malls, chances are that you will find it at the expo. Be warned though, these fairs are not for the faint- hearted. Expect a lot of people, a lot of children and crying babies and a lot of walking around. Best leave the family at home and go by yourself so that you can be in and out quickly.
Entry is free and doors open at 11am and shut at 9pm on each day.
For more information go to this link:
Baby Expo KLCC
If you miss this fair you can go to several others throughout the year at different venues in KL.
The next such fair at KLCC will be on the 27th to 29th of May 2016.
A great blog to follow with updates on what to do with kids and which baby expo is on when, is:
