Copyright in Malaysia

In Malaysia and Asia in general the word Copyright has an entirely different meaning. It is often said that Copyright means: "my right to copy!"  A very unfortunate play on words and it is taken literally!

Here are some photos to show you how copying is part and parcel of life here:

Fish head noodle or Frog dishes in Kuala Lumpur!

Malaysia is so fascinating especially when it comes to food! So if you want to be fascinated and have something to tell your family on skype you must go dine at KA-SOH.
They are popular for their seafood and fish head noodle but they also serve frog's legs- Malaysian Chinese style.

Check them out:

They have another restaurant at Imbi Shopping Mall.
Monorail station: Imbi.
Tel: 603 2148 0102

Souvenirs of Malaysia

If you are looking for souvenirs and gifts to take from Malaysia most people will tell you to go to Central Market.
Aside from Central Market there are also some other lesser known places that would suit travellers on a tight budget.
Head to Sungei Wang \Plazea shopping mall. Nearest public transport is the Mono Rail station Bukit Bintang. The Mall is attached to the Monorail, so you don't have far to walk. On the 3rd floor there are two small shops with all sorts of trinkets and lovely Asian gifts. You can even find Tibetan singing bowls. (I had been looking everywhere for them.)

The two shops in Sungei Wang Plaza are:

Ekmanee Enterprise
Lot T071, 3rd Floor
Tel: +6-03 2144 2899

Vel Art Collections Sdn Bhd
Lot T070, 3r Floor
Tel: +6-032148 9228

For more expensive souvenirs head to KLCC and check out Royal Selangor Pewter. They do some lovely things out of pewter.
Click on the link below for more information.  Happy Shopping!

Chinese Medicine and Blind Masseurs in Kuala Lumpur!

I sometimes write about odd and different things that you can try out in Kuala Lumpur and here are two more examples:

Asia is generally known for it's talent in creating beautiful spas and providing wonderful and health beneficial massages. To get a massage with a difference why not check out the:

 Blind Master Massage Centre.

Hours are: 09.00 to 20.30
17A, Jalan Tun Sambathan 4,
A bit further on from the YMCA and 7 Eleven
Tel: 03-2273 0188, 03-2273 0189
Closest LRT/Monorail = KL Sentral
Massages and reflexology.
All masseurs are blind!

For an experience of traditional Chinese Medicine you can ask for:

Soon Yih Chian
62 Jalan Tun Perak
Tel: 03-2078 2857
Nearest Lrt: Masjid Jamek.

Soon Yih Chian is in an old and simple chinese herbal shop in the Masjid Jamek area.
Her consultations are free.
You simply pay for what ever herbs she recommends to you after the consultation.
You are not obliged to buy any medicine, so you can relax and enjoy the difference of being consultated in a traditional chinese manner.

Enjoy!
