Copyright in Malaysia
In Malaysia and Asia in general the word Copyright has an entirely different meaning. It is often said that Copyright means: "my right to copy!" A very unfortunate play on words and it is taken literally!

Yup. In Malaysia, anything goes. The irony of the last photo! I have seen designers blatantly downloading images from the web to use with brochures and they don't think that is wrong. It's a kind of silly wide-eyed innocence which can be baffling especially to expats. Asians typically don't find these issues problematic. To steal is to take something physically; the logic goes that if it is not physical aka ideas, it can't be stealing.

Thank you ladies for your comments. Did you know that there is a copyright and patent office next to the Bangsar LRT station. I wonder what frustrations they face in upholding their work.
